Unlocked Hair: late 1997- early 1998

Here are pictures from the 5-6 months of so in-between the time I cut off my first set of locks to starting my second set. I had about three inches of growth during this time. The first picture is my hair in knots, they are called Bantu knots. I did it myself. I liked this hairstyle a lot because at the time I had a three year old and a 2-month old, that’s them in the picture, and once I did it I could keep it like that for a week or so without fussing with my hair. Plus it is a very cute style. The second and third pictures are what I called my hybrid afro. In the first I’d cornrow my hair while wet and then take it out when dry and then style it with my fingers (no combing) and I’d use a curling iron on the front. With the second hybrid afro I’d pick my hair out and using a curling iron curl the front into a bang. The third picture is my hair in two simple cornrows going back, I wore my hair like this a lot during that time.
