Here’s a clearer pic of my dreads, the other full-length pic wasn’t very clear.
My hair is getting long enough to sit on…a few of my dreads I can actually sit on. I was going to trim them to all be waist-length but my husband asked me not to. He adores my long hair! I’ve trimmed them before a few times in the 9 years I have had this set of locks, it’s no big deal to me.

A little info: I started this set in early 1998, late January or February I think. So I’m going on 10 years! Prior to that I had dreadlocks from August 1992 to October 1997 and they were to my shoulder blades. I cut them during my last pregnancy because I was feeling huge and gross and thought a new hairstyle would make me feel better. Big mistake! I immediately regretted it and re-started my locks soon after. My son that I was pregnant with says he remembers when I cut my locks, and he wants me to never cut my hair again. LOL!
My hair is naturally jet black ( I know, that’s kinda rare among af-ams) but over the years I have colored them with henna, lemon juice, and commercial hair dyes. Overall my locks now have a slight dark reddish dark brown tint to them. I’ve been thinking of dyeing them blue-black, but will probably leave them alone. I mean it just takes so much time to do it, right.

You hair has gotten so long! I found your blog recently, I used to visit your dread mama site back in 2003. Your hair has grown quite a bit since then. It’s wonderful.
