Hi ella! for the dry scalp you could try oiling your scalp with olive oil. On growth: human hair grows at a rate of 6 inches a year. So every month you should expect a half inch of growth. On formal hairstyles: maybe pin it up?

Hi Dread Mama:

First, thank you for sharing!

I've started my locks two weeks ago and have started to get really dry scalp (flakes/scales) which I've always had to deal with and drives me crazy. Any suggestions for riding myself of this annoying condition? I don't want to shampoo yet since I'm beginning to get some buds!

About how much growth can I expect each month. My hair is very healthy and tends to grow reasonably fast. I'm marrying in Oct. 2010 and hope to be able to style it nicely for the wedding. Any pictures for formal ocassions?

Appreciate any and all suggestions.

To back-comb, take a section of your hair, hold it at the tips, and comb down on the section. Comb in the opposite direction you would if you were combing your hair regularly.
