I love your hair! I came across your site because I was searching for ways to take down my locs. Can you tell me how old your daughter’s were in the pictures? Mine are about five and a half years old and are shoulder blade length. I love them, but it’s time for a change for now.
Thanks for any info you can provide.
you’re welcome! her locks were 3 years old.
My locks are about 8 years old and I want to get rid of them, but I want to keep lots of hair for beautiful natural styles (LOL!). I see the process and she has lots of hair left, but I need more infor please. How long did this take? What exactly is the process?
Hi S.! It took about 15-20 minutes to unravel each single dreadlock. I soaked her dreads in conditioner for a few hours then rinsed it out before taking the dreads out. I picked each one out with a fork. The entire process took a few weeks to complete, but I think if you can set aside an entire weekend to do it that should be ample time.
Thanks for your reply. It’s over a month since I first considered this and I have only gotten six or seven out! I’ve been very inconsistent with the process and had to convince my husband and myself that I truly wanted this changed now. I’m sure I’ll miss them!
S. , If you do miss them, you can always dread again someday
